Local Transport

Getting around:

Parking:

Use of the main car park at the bottom of the hill, just before you enter the village is strongly recommended! There are no other public car parks or on street parking in the village centre.

Polperro village streets are narrow; many a driver has persevered, but alas they have all been defeated in the end, facing a long and difficult reverse manoeuvre to escape!

Unless you are heading to a hotel, B&B or rented cottage with private parking, please respect the “permitted vehicles only” signs at the entrance to the village and park in the main car park.

Around the village:

The stroll to the start of the shops and heart of the village is a quarter of a mile. In season, for those wishing to ease or speed the journey, electric trams operate from the main car park to the heart of the village with request stops along the way.

If you are heading for accommodation, or have tools or business equipment, there is a luggage taxi service, quad bike and trailer; phone 01503 272988 or 07977 380170.

Local buses:

Western Greyhound 572 service connects the village to Plymouth and the 573 service connects the village to Looe, Liskeard and Plymouth. Click on the service number to open timetables.

The Polruan 481 roadcar service connects to Fowey via the Polruan foot ferry and runs through to Looe.

Coming by train?

Why not travel from Liskeard along the scenic Looe Valley branch line to Looe, and then the last 5 miles onward by bus or taxi. Find train timetables via the First Great Western website.

On foot – The Coastal Path

Polperro is 5 miles from West Looe and 7 mile from Fowey/Polruan along the coastal path. Both stretches (particularly to Polruan) are rated tough in the guide books, but the views are spectacular.
